What to Expect from a Wine Tasting Workshop
Feb 20, 2019
When we came up with the idea to offer a wine tasting workshop we really didn’t know what to expect. As it turns out, there are a LOT of people in Red Deer who are eager to learn about wines and wine tasting.
We decided to offer our wine tasting courses in various “levels” so guests would know which tasting they had already attended and which they hadn’t.
Your “Wine Tasting Workshop Level I” includes a variety of 7 unique wines from around the world. Hosted by our restaurant manager Ali Fraser or by our wine tasting expert and wine distributor Eric Weiss, the evening is a lot of fun. Our next Wine Tasting Level I will be offered on Friday March 8. You may reserve your spot for that evening here.
Wine Tasting Level 2 includes a sleigh ride prior to your Ice Wine tasting experience. What a delicious way to spend a Friday or Saturday evening? Dates are February 22 and 23. Book now.
Wine Tasting Level 3 will be offered featuring all Canadian Wines on Friday March 15 2019. You don't want to miss this!
Seating at the wine tastings is generally around a series of long tables so you immediately are introduced to new people who are also interested in wines.
The world of wine tasting is generally categorized around grape styles and blends. A great phone app to get you started in tracking wines you’ve purchased or tasted is “Vivino”. With Vivino you simply take a snapshot of the wine you are tasting and it will give you a heads up as to what to expect. Tasting reviewers also are invited to leave their comments on the wine so you really get a feel for what you are about to purchase. Vivino also helps you create a history of the wines you have tasted which can be helpful when you are wandering the aisles of your local wine store.
But What Do I wear? Fortunately, our wine tastings are generally casual so you can come as you are. The tastings are informal and overall they are a very social experience.
Will there be food? Food is always available at the ranch. You may want to book a reservation when you book your wine tasting as quite often the restaurant fills up on Friday nights.
